Week 1 – #DrMummyTips

My first post in the #DrMummyTips series!

Cherry tomatoes and grapes are common choking hazards in young children if eaten whole.

Of course children need to learn to chew and pureeing every carrot stick or pulverising every cheesy puff is unrealistic, but cherry tomatoes and grapes in particular are by their nature the perfect size, shape and slipperiness to get stuck in a child’s throat.

Other common causes can be found in my Childhood Choking (a photo guide) post.

So my 1st DrMummyTip…

“Chop cherry tomatoes and grapes into QUARTERS to reduce the risk of CHOKING”

Why I’m doing this series: My final professional exam lies just around the corner (aaarghhh!).  As I will be revising (and time is going to be very precious) I will be posting quick Dr Mummy Tips every Monday on Twitter.

Follow me there @DrMummykins or on Facebook to see new weekly tips.
